Sale is a commuter town in Trafford, and a lot of people who live here want their licence for the same reason: a job, a family or the simple freedom of not waiting for the next tram. If that sounds like you, Driving Lessons MCR can help. We teach manual and automatic lessons in Sale, with a friendly instructor matched to your postcode.
We have taught Manchester learners for over 10 years and our Google rating is 5.0★ from 278 reviews. Sale appears on our service area list, and so does the wider Trafford area.

Who we teach in Sale
Adults learning later. If you have put off learning for years, you are in good company. Many of our learners start in their twenties, thirties or later. Lessons are paced for you, and nobody will compare you with a teenager.
Young learners. If you are 17 and want lessons while you study, ask about early evening or weekend slots.
Parents. Whether you need the school run or a return to work, we plan lessons that fit your day.
Licence holders from other countries. You can have lessons to get used to UK roads or to prepare for a UK test. Tell us about your situation and we will explain the options.
What learning around Sale looks like
Sale has quiet suburban streets where first lessons are comfortable, and larger junctions and roundabouts where you build up to. Main routes carry commuter traffic towards Manchester at peak times, so your instructor chooses when to take you there. As you improve, you practise on the types of roads you will actually use when you pass: dual carriageways, busier roundabouts and town centre driving.
We never claim a particular road is on your driving test route, because routes are not published. We teach you the skills, and the examiner picks the route.
Manual or automatic in Sale?
If you will commute by car, an automatic can take much of the stress out of queues. If you want to be able to drive any car, a manual licence covers both. See our automatic lessons page for the pros and cons.

How to plan your test
- Work with your instructor on the skills in the national standard.
- Pass your theory test (50 questions plus hazard perception).
- Agree with your instructor that you are ready.
- You book your driving test on GOV.UK, using your instructor’s reference number.
Only the learner can book or change a car driving test and you are limited to 2 changes, so choose a date and a test centre carefully. Our guide to booking your test in 2026 walks through it.
