Why Chorlton is good (and challenging) for learners
Plenty of cyclists. Many people cycle in Chorlton. We teach you to check mirrors and blind spots every time, leave a safe gap when passing and watch for riders filtering past queues. These habits matter on the driving test and for life after it.
Parked cars on both sides. A lot of residential streets have cars parked down the length of the road. They are perfect for learning to read the road ahead, spot passing places and decide when to give way.
Busy centre, quieter side roads. Your first lessons can happen on calmer side roads before you drive near the village centre at busier times.
What a typical block of lessons could look like
You might start with 2-hour lessons so you have time to settle in, then move to a mix of longer practice and shorter focused sessions. Here is an example (not a promise; you set the pace):
- Week 1–2: controls, moving off and stopping, junction basics on quiet roads.
- Week 3–5: roundabouts, busier junctions, meeting cyclists and buses, lane discipline.
- Week 6–8: independent driving and parking exercises.
On a Regular Course of 2–4 hours a week, 20 hours takes between five and ten weeks; you decide how fast to go.

Neither course has any sign-up pressure. If you have never driven before, a smaller block such as 5 or 10 hours is a good way to find out how you feel.
